ANNOUNCEMENT

Every Man and His Dog will not be running for Australia Day 2020.
We apologise for any disappointment this may cause. It was not an easy decision but unfortunately we do not have the manpower for the event this year. However we will be marking Australia Day 2020 by hosting a mystery paddle! We will be departing from Watsons Bay at 8.00am on Sunday 26th January and paddling to a ‘mystery-location’ which will be revealed on the day. Refreshments will be included in the booking price of $50pp and the adventure will run until 10.00am. Book your spot on our mystery paddle here.

Due to the distance of the journey, this paddle is ONLY appropriate for strong & experienced paddlers. If you are a recreational paddler or even a total beginner and would like to join us on the water then we will be running Sydney Harbour cruises and lessons throughout the rest of the day which can be booked via our WATSSUP website here.

Again we are sad not to be hosting the Every Man and His Dog This Year and we appreciate everyone’s support for the event in the previous years. But we do intend to host another Every Man and His Dog in the future so you and your pooch will paddle again!

Much love, Jo, Terry & Team WATSSUP
The last four Australia Day’s have seen the success of the Every Man and His Dog SUP Event Watsons Bay. Watson Bay beachfront on Australia Day is now recognised as a day where the surrounding communities, dog owners and elite athletes, come together to celebrate our national day and show appreciation and admiration to the sport of Stand Up Paddling. But most of all to have fun!

This event is run and hosted by WATSSUP Watsons Bay Stand Up Paddling . WATSSUP are paddleboard and fitness enthusiasts, an ASI accredited Stand Up Paddle School based in Watsons Bay, an integrated part of the Eastern Suburbs community; owned by Mermaid Joanna Kyriazakos and Bondi Rescue’s Lifeguard Terry McDermott.

Every Man and His Dog is a Stand Up Paddle event on Australia Day that is made up of several SUP races in which participants will compete based on their level and skill in Stand Up Paddling. There will be different courses located within Watsons Bay as well as a more challenging long distance race for the more elite paddlers. This event does not only attracts athletes, but local families and visitors who have a chance to compete in the more basic SUP courses and individuals with their dogs who participate in the iconic novelty, man and dog races. Come spectate, browse through our market stalls or even better still, gather your mates, family and even your work colleagues and form a team for our SUP Team Relay! There’s a race for everyone and every pooch! Please see the Race Categories for the descriptions of the individual races. For those who haven’t paddled before and would like some practice and tips before Australia Day (don’t worry you have time!) contact us at WATSSUP Watsons Bay Stand Up Paddling to book your training sessions now!

Race Categories

Long Distance SUP Race

Our Long Distance course sponsored by WATSSUP is approximately 6km and is designed to test endurance, athletic and technical ability! This event is purely for the elite paddlers! The offshore route from Watsons Bay will provide some challenging elements to test true paddle skills.

Man & Dog SUP Race

The iconic and legendary Man and Dog SUP Race, where you and your beloved pooch paddle together! This is a short course of 150m. Plenty of prizes to win including prizes for your furry friend!

Team Relay

Team Relay is sponsored by Sydney East Business Chamber. Get your colleagues, friends and rivals to enter into the Team Relay Sup Race. Teams must be made up of 5 people.

Technical Sprint SUP Race

This is a 2km course sponsored by Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel and includes 2 laps along the northern side of Watsons Bay foreshore, out around the boat moorings and back to the shoreline. This SUP race will test the agility and speed of its competitors!

Kids SUP Race

The kids race is 500m. We provide shorter courses for our younger paddling enthusiasts, but don’t worry there are still great prizes to win and every kid who enters gets a free meal from Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel!

Man and Dog Treasure Hunt

In one of the favored events from last year, this category will not only test the skills of the paddler but his four-legged companion. Participants are to paddle out and their pooch has to find as much “treasure” in the water as they can. Team with the most wins!
